2 Indian High Commission staffers found after getting released by Pak police

New Delhi/IBNS: Two Indian High Commission staffers who went missing in Islamabad since morning have been found after Pakistani authorities released them, media reports quoting government sources said late Monday night.

A notification from Pakistan's Foreign Affairs Ministry claimed that the two staffers, both drivers, had been involved in a road accident.

According to government sources earlier in the day, as quoted in media, they were in the custody of Pakistan's Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI).

On getting reports about the missing staffers, India lodged an official complaint with the Pakistani government.

The External Affairs Ministry had summoned the Pakistani envoy too over the issue.

The incident comes weeks after two Pakistani officials working at the country's High Commission in New Delhi were deported after being accused of espionage.

The two officers worked in the visa section of the Pakistani embassy and were caught in an act of spying.

India had also dismissed the driver of the expelled Pakistani operatives- Abid Hussain and Muhammad Tahir- as he was also involved in the spy ring.

Ever since India expelled the Pakistan operatives, Islamabad has been strongly protesting leading to even summoning the Indian envoy to express dissatisfaction.

Recently, an Indian diplomat was also harassed in Pakistan by men associated with ISI.

The ISI men waited outside Indian Charge d'Affaires Gaurav Ahluwalia's residence and then followed his cars, trying to intimidate him.
