13 injured as eight coaches of Rajya Rani Ex jumps rails in Uttar Pradesh

Bareilly, Apr 15 (IBNS) : At least 13 passengers were injured when eight coaches of the Meerut-Lucknow Rajya Rani Express derailed on Saturday morning, reports said.

The incident took place at 8:15am between Rampur and Mundapanda --- near a bridge over the Koshi river in Uttar Pradesh.

The Railways ministry said  all the stranded passengers are being taken to their destination and traffic along the route has been restored.

Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath announced Rs 50,000 ex-gratia for each of the seriously injured and Rs 25,000 ex-gratia for each of the injured.

The Railways, too, announced ex-gratia of Rs 50,000 for the injured.

NDRF teams, railway and police officials are on the spot of the accident for rescue efforts.

Moradabad Divisional Railway manager (DRM) has reached the spot to oversee the rescue and relief operations.
