The protesters burnt tyres and blocked roads in Guwahati and many other places of the state during the bandh and demanded the government to scrap the bill.

The protesters also shouted slogans against the bill and the BJP-led government in centre and state.

As many as 16 left-leaning organizations including SFI, DYFI, AIDWA, AISF, AISA, IPTA and several tribal students organizations of Assam have called 12-hour Assam shut down to protest against the bill.
