New Delhi/UNI: The Supreme Court on Tuesday directed the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) to declare the results of 10th and 12th compartment examinations as soon as possible to enable those students passing out these exams to get admission in colleges in the current academic year.

A bench comprising Justices AM Khanwilkar and Sanjeev Khanna asked the CBSE to decide the dates for declaration of examination results.

The Apex Court also directed the CBSE to take a joint decision with University Grants Commission (UGC) in this regard saying, "these are exceptional times."

The matter was posted for further hearing on Thursday.
