Kolkata/IBNS: Jonty Rhodes, the former South African cricketer, who is considered one of the best fielders of all times, credited his prowess on the cricket field to lessons learned during swimming or playing hockey.

He said that his parents, both teachers, always encouraged him to participate in various games, when he was young.

Rhodes was speaking at an online fitness workshop organised by EuroSchool recently.

Rhodes was welcomed to the workshop by Shruthi Arun, Principal of EuroSchool Whitefield, Bangalore.

In this one-hour virtual fitness workshop, Rhodes shared personal anecdotes and several videos related to age-appropriate exercises for children.

To avoid injury, he emphasised on incorporating core strength training and yoga exercises into children's daily routine to be healthy.

Rhodes said, “It’s great to be associated with EuroSchool.  A school that focuses on extra-curricular activities along with academics will build a positive mindset and will encourage your child to explore a world outside of textbooks. I was quite impressed when I went through the sports programme and took a virtual tour of the EuroSchool campuses.”

Rahul Deshpande, CEO, EuroSchool said, “One of the key reasons we collaborated with Jonty Rhodes for this workshop is that he shared our vision and personally believes that a balanced outlook enables children to discover their strengths and abilities.”

EuroSchool is a part of Euro Kids International.

In India, it has a network of eleven K-12 schools across Mumbai, Pune, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Ahmedabad and Surat.
