Prosenjit releases journalist-turned-writer's debut novel

Actors Biplab Dasgupta,  Bobby Chakraborty, Tota Roy Chowdhury, Sudipta Chakraborty and Koneenica Banerjee also glammed up the event of the release of the book which tells the story of a woman journalist, Rasa, and her personal and professional relationships at various levels.

Speaking at the release, Prosenjit said, “The state of entertainment reporting was derogatory back in the 2000s, Amrita and her colleagues have changed it since. I wish her all the best.”

Chatterjee’s voice resonated through Tota Roy Chowdhury’s statement as he said, “Amrita was at the advent of the Page 3 culture in Kolkata. The reason we are celebrated and recognized today is because of her and her colleagues.”

Biplab Dasgupta said, “It is a very racy novel. I have read it; once you start you cannot put it down.” The thespian along with Sudipta Chakraborty regaled the audience with anecdotes involving the author and their personal and professional lives.

When asked to share her troubles if any in her professional career Koneenica said, “If you ask me about our industry, casting couch exists. It is not limited to females, the males are equally harassed.”

The writer when asked if she was ready with the storyline right for the start, said: “I started out with an idea and then the story followed. I was helped by my husband a lot, he was very supportive.” 

The event took place at Starmark, Quest Mall and was organized by the hosts along with Rupa Publications India.

The novel is priced at Rs 236.
