Kolkata/IBNS: Students and teachers of Loreto College attended the joint inauguration of the first volumes of two multidisciplinary, peer-reviewed e-journals published by the college via an online programme last Wednesday.

Among the journals, "Peritia", brought out by the Department of Bachelor of Education, focuses exclusively on research and scholarly investigations pertaining to teacher education.

The "Loreto College Journal of Humanities and Social Sciences" (LCJHSS) offers a platform for research in a wide variety of subjects across the Humanities and Social Sciences spectrum.

Both students and faculty members from any academic institution can contribute to these journals.

The two e-journals were launched by Rev. Dr. Fr Felix Raj, Vice-Chancellor of St. Xavier's University, Kolkata, an educationist and lifelong supporter of high-quality research and academic pursuits.

The vice-chancellor spoke briefly about the significant contribution the two journals will be able to make in the newly introduced model of education in India and lauded them as an academic milestone achieved by the college.

Representatives from the Loreto Provincialate and Loreto Education Board, as well as volume contributors and reviewers, attended the programme.

They were joined by college students and faculty members, as well as faculty members from other colleges, Dr. Krishnokoli Hazra, the editor of LCJHSS and Dr. Kaustuva Banerjee, the editor of Peritia, and members of the Editorial Boards.

Sister Dr. A. Nirmala, the teacher-in-charge of the college, expressed a warm and heartfelt acknowledgement of all those who had contributed to this achievement.

Dr. Dinaz R. Jeejeebhoy, the convener of the Research and Development Cell, also recorded her gratitude and insights into how the two journals have already etched out a long-term plan for supporting and sustaining superior quality research which would manifest into successful publication and recognition internationally in the long run.
