Kolkata witnessed an art exhibition by disadvantaged children

Kolkata, Mar 28 (IBNS): Art exhibition Agapi, meaning love in Greek, was recently organized by NGO Paint Our World here.

The exhibition was inaugurated  by fashion designers Nandita Thirani at the ITC Sonar, Kolkata.

The exhibition showcased colorful paintings by children from POW, NGO.

All the paintings were an outcome of emotional emPOWerment workshops made by children ranging from 2.5 years to 8 years. The 29 paintings in all made by children were Priced between Rs.2000-8000 each.

Apart from the paintings the exhibition  also had coffee mugs, coffee table books, cards and postcards all showcasing the stories told by the children about their lives.

Established in the year 2009 September, POW is the brain child of Dr. Priya Virmani, a PhD from the University of Bristol. Paint Our World (POW), a charitable trust in India that puts the emotional emPOWerment of underprivileged children who have been victims of trauma like child sexual abuse.
