Kolkata hosting photography exhibition celebrating 30 years of UNCRC

Kolkata/IBNS: A photography exhibition celebrating 30 years of the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child (UNCRC) was inaugurated in Kolkata recently.

Dr. Shashi Panja, Minister in Charge Women & Child Development & Social Welfare, Govt of West Bengal, Ananya Chakraborty, Chair Person, West Best State Commission for Protection of Child Rights, The Rt.Revd. Paritosh Canning, Bishop of Kolkata, Church of North India & Head of the CNI Schools in Kolkata inaugurated it.

It was followed by an interface with the child reporters, youth mentors from 5 states of India along with other dignitaries at the Birla Industrial and Technological Museum in the city.

Terre des Hommes Suisse - an independent non-government organization, has been committed to children and solidarity development for almost 60 years.

Its work, carried out in 10 countries aims to ensure the protection of children, their rights to education and their participation.

Its mission is to promote the capacity of children and young people to take actions towards becoming actors of change for child rights and a more united world.

In order to observe the 30 years of change and evolution brought in the lives of children globally, a “Child Reporter Project” was initiated.

This entire process was implemented and documented by the Child Reporters and their Youth Mentors.
