Mumbai/IBNS: With the festive season round the corner, here is an opportunity to help the less fortunate in these trying times and also gain something good for yourself in the process.

Check out the virtual exhibition ‘Windows for Weavers’ (on till September 30, 2020) being organised by the FICCI Ladies Organisation (FICCI FLO) Mumbai Chapter.

FLO is the women’s wing of the Federation of Indian Chamber of Commerce & Industry (FICCI).

At the exhibition, you can view and buy specially curated Indian weaves from across the country and help the weaving community affected by the pandemic related lockdown and economic crisis.

Aslam Sheikh, Textile Minister of Maharashtra

Windows for Weavers was inaugurated by Aslam Sheikh, Textile Minister of Maharashtra and Hema Malini, actor and Member of Parliament.

The inauguration was followed by a panel discussion on how to promote weavers.

According to Maloo Natrajan, saree diplomacy and Khadi cult are used to promote the finesse of Indian weavers on the global map.

“The need of the hour is to communicate, disseminate and engage with not just the global audience but the local population and the Indian diaspora through these cultural expressions,” she said.
