Kolkata/IBNS: Vocalist Dr Jonaki Mukherjee released her first solo music video ‘Sujon Aamar Ghorey Kyano Ailo Naa’, recently.

The music video, released by Bhavna Records, has been arranged by popular music composer Debajyoti Mishra, who also happens to be Dr Mukherjee’s husband.

A psychologist and a teacher by profession, Dr Mukherjee’s initiation into music happened under the tutelage of Ustad Sagiruddin Khan, Ashoktaru Bandyopadhyay and Debabrata Biswas.

Academics being a priority, she never considered taking up music as her profession.

She said, “I learnt the nuances of music, picked up the skills; I love singing, discussing music and its finer points but never thought about bringing out a music video. So when noted director Prasun Banerjee approached me with the idea of creating a music video on this very popular number, I immediately agreed to do it as this songs talks about rural Bengal.”

The music video has been created by Prasun Banerjee, a Deputy Inspector General in the police department.

Said Banerjee, “My profession takes me to different places and while making this video I was posted in South Dinajpur, though I am in Jhargram now. In this music video, South Dinajpur’s Binanikkon group performed and beautifully depicted rural Bengal’s rich culture.”
