World's largest govt healthcare scheme to cover 10 cr Indian families: Jaitley

New Delhi, Feb  1 (IBNS) Presenting the Union Budget 2018, Finance Minister Arun Jaitley on Thursday said a National Health Protection scheme is being launched to cover 10 crore poor Indian families offering up to Rs 5 lakh in hospitalisation a year.

Jaitley said the scheme will cover 50 crore beneficiaries and going to be the world's largest government funded healthcare programme.

"We will build a new India in 2022. It will generate lakhs of jobs for women," said Jaitley.

It will be extended further after ascertaining the results of this scheme, said Jaitley.
