With 302 new cases, Assam's COVID-19 tally surges to 7794, death toll mounts to 12

Guwahati/IBNS: Assam has reported 302 new COVID-19 positive cases in last 24 hours and with these the state's tally for the new virus has increased to 7794.

Out of the new COVID-19 positive cases, 172 cases have been detected from Guwahati.

Assam Health Minister Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma said that 302 new COVID-19 positive cases including 172 infections from Guwahati have been detected in the state in last 24 hours.

On the other hand, one COVID-19 patient died at a government run hospital in Guwahati on Tuesday taking the state's death toll to 12.

Following the sharp spike in the cases, the Assam government had enforced 14-day total lockdown in Guwahati city and in all other areas of Kamrup (Metro) district from June 28.

On the other hand, two BSF personnel posted at Dholcherra camp in Cachar district were tested positive for the new virus and they have travel history to different parts of the country.
