With 11, 271 new Covid infections in last 24 hrs, India records lowest active cases in 17 months

New Delhi/IBNS: Continuing its dip in COVID-19 cases, India recorded 11,271 new infections in the last 24 hours, the Union Health Ministry said in its daily bulletin on Sunday.

India's active caseload currently stands at 1,35,918, which is the lowest in 522 days (17 months).

The active cases account for less than 1 percent of total cases, currently at 0.39 percent; the lowest since March 2020.

The country's recovery rate currently stands at 98.26 percent, which is the highest since March 2020.

A total of 11,376 recoveries were registered in the last 24 hours, increasing the total recoveries to 3,38,37,859.

The daily positivity rate (0.90%) is less than 2 percent for the last 41 days, the health ministry statement said.

Meanwhile, 112.01 crore vaccine doses have been administered so far under nationwide vaccination drive.
