WHO urges rich nations to suspend Covid booster shots for 2021

Geneva: The World Health Organization (WHO) on Wednesday urged the rich nations to suspend Covid-19 booster shot campaign in 2021 and make the doses available for economically weaker nations, according to media reports.

The UN health body noted that the rich nations have large supplies of Covid-19 shots, adding that several poor countries were struggling to vaccinate their vulnerable population due to paucity of supply of the critical vaccine, reported Hindustan Times.

World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus urged the rich nations to refrain from offering booster shots through the end of the year and make the doses available for poorer nations.
