West Bengal witnesses highest ever daily spike in COVID-19 cases, 449 new added

Kolkata/IBNS: Marking the highest-ever spike in COVID-19 cases so far, West Bengal registered 449 new cases in the span of last 24 hours, officials said on Sunday.

With 13 more deaths recorded in the past 24 hours, the death toll due to the disease now stands at 324.

Seventy-two other comorbidity deaths were reported earlier.

In the last 24 hours, 184 people were discharged from hospital, taking the number of people to 3303.

West Bengal has reported 8187 COVID-19 positive cases so far.

West Medinipur for the first time surpassed Kolkata as the region reported maximum number of cases (84) in last 24hrs.

Kolkata added 74 new cases in the same period.

With 9786 samples tested in past 24 hours, West Bengal has now tested 271074 samples so far.
