Uttar Pradesh: COVID-19 case tally breaches 1 lakh-mark

Lucknow/UNI: The COVID-19 case tally of Uttar Pradesh crossed one lakh-mark on Tuesday after recording 2,983 fresh cases.

The death toll from the virus reached 1,817 with 41 more fatalities.

As per official sources, the state has so far recorded 1,00,345 COVID-19 cases which includes 41,222 active cases and 57,271 recovered.

As many as 1,878 patients have recovered in past 24 hours, sources said.

In over 16 days, around 50,000 cases were recorded in the state, a sign of worry.

However, in past few days, the number of fresh cases are declining.

But, state capital Lucknow, continued to witness a sharp rise. Some 611 fresh case were reported in a day while four more patients died. The capital has 4,638 active cases.

Kanpur recorded 259 fresh cases with eight deaths while active cases reached 3,845.

In Varanasi, 109 fresh COVID-19 cases surfaced.
