Uttar Pradesh: 772 fresh cases of Covid

Lucknow/UNI:  With 772 fresh cases of Covid 19 in Uttar Pradesh on Saturday, the total cases in the state has gone up to 26,554.

The death toll also reached 773 with 24 fresh casualty.

State additional chief secretary, health Amit Mohan Prasad said here on Saturday that there are 7627 active cases in the state while the recovered patients was 18154 including 557, who were released from hospital today.

There are 7630 people in the isolation beds of the Covid hospitals and 4420 in the institutional quarantine.

Mr Prasad said, on Friday 26,061 tests were done and now the total Covid tests in the state has gone up to 8,34,991 so far.

Of the total tests done on Friday, 1973 tests were pool of 5 samples and 302 pools of 10 samples. In the pool of five, 264 were found positive and in the pool of 10 samples 57 were found positive.

Presently around 1.59 lakh health teams have covered 1.16 crore houses in the state to screen over 5.94 crore people of their health in 25,855 areas including 10,220 hotspots.

Mr Prasad said during a random sampling of front line workers and chemists and pharmacists in all the 75 districts in the state recently, the result was very encouraging.

"A total of 12299 samples were collected of these people randomly. The positive cases were found in just 26 districts that too in 70 people which was just 0.85 per cent," he said.

The official claimed that in similar random sampling of vendors, street hawkers, urban slums and other people, the positive cases ratio was under one per cent too.
