Two wild elephants in Assam die in lightning

Guwahati, Aug 7 (IBNS): Two wild elephants have died when they were struck by lightning  in central Assam’s Hojai district, officials said on Tuesday.

The incident took place at Lankajan Dorjeesheet area in Hojai district along Hojai-West Karbi Anglong border on Monday.

According to the reports, two male wild elephants which had come down from the forest area in search of food  lost lives due to lighting.

Local people had found the bodies of the jumbos at a sugarcane field and immediately informed forest officials.

Later, a forest team of Hojai district reached the spot and made arrangement for conducting post-mortem.
