Rajasthan Home Minister victim of swine flu
Katara was confirmed to have contracted the disease on Monday to become the second VIP in the state affected by the virus.
On Sunday, former chief minister Ashok Gehlot had announced on Twitter that he had contracted the viral disease.
Reports said with three more swine flu deaths reported in Ajmer, Jaipur and Tond on Monday, the toll reached to 52 in Rajasthan. So far 259 people have tested positive for H1N1 virus.
Kataria reached a hospital in Udaipur for medical check up as he was suffering from cold and fever since the last few days. A medical test confirmed that he had been affected by swine flu.
Nodal officer for swine flu, Dr. Mahesh Dave said the minister is recuperating at his residence in Udaipur after doctors advised him bed rest and prescribed medicines.
Jaipur district collector Krishna Kunal on Monday attributed the high incidence of swine flu to cold weather, peak tourism season, ongoing panchayat elections and marriages.
He, however, said the disease is curable and there is no need to panic.
