Shimla, Aug 19 (IBNS): At least 30 people have died and several others were missing as rain triggered massive damages to roads and buildings in several parts of North India over the weekend.

Flood alerts have been issued for  Delhi, Haryana, Punjab and Uttar Pradesh.

Rivers like Yamuna are swelling to dangerous levels.

Majority of the damage was reported from the two worst-hit states — Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand — as heavy rains remained unabated through the Himalayan belt, reported Hindustan Times.

23 people lost their lives in Himchal Pradesh so far in rain-related incidents.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) office in Himachal Pradesh said in a statement: "The state as a whole received 102.5mm and this was 1,065% more than normal."

As many as 887 roads, including 13 national highways, across the state were blocked fully or partially due to landslides, officials said. Traffic on Chandigarh-Manali national highway was blocked near Bilaspur town, leaving hundreds stranded. Traffic from Mandi to Kullu was diverted as the highway along the swollen Beas river was inundated, Hindustan Times.
