Bhubaneswar/UNI: Panic gripped the capital city Bhubaneswar as the novel coronavirus positive cases rose to 20 with a majority of 14 cases tested positive in the state capital alone.

State Health and Family Welfare Office sources said as many as 15 new cases were tested positive in the state, sending a warning signal of a possible community transmission of the Covid 19.

The situation forced the state government to clamp a 48-hour complete shutdown in Bhubaneswar, Cuttack and Bhadrak as the positive cases were detected from these places .

However, later two more places such as Puri and Jajpur also reported one each positive case, forcing the authority to seal the area to prevent the spread of coronavirus.

The authority had already sealed the posh Suryanagar and Bomikhal area in the capital city where as many as eight and three corona positive cases were detected respectively.

Today the Jajpur district administration also sealed the three kms radius of Brahmabarada village as Jajpur also reported one positive case yesterday.

Health Department sources said as many as seven persons who had come in contact with Pradipta Dalabehera, a resident of Surya Nagar, were tested positive of coronavirus.

The seven members included Dalbehera’s wife, daughter and five tenants who were staying in the house of Dalbehera.

Similarly, three persons from Bomikhal area, one each from Cuttack, Puri and Jajpur and two from Bhadrak tested positive yesterday.

Official sources said till yesterday 1395 samples were sent for the test and 20 of them reported positive.

While capital city Bhubaneswar reported 14 positive case, Bhadrak reported three followed by one each in Cuttack, Puri and Jajpur.

However, two of the 20 tested positive persons have been discharged from the Hospital after their test found negative.

Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik today appealed to the people who had attended the Tablighi Jamaat in Nizamuddin in New Delhi to call 104 and provide their detailed information about their travel and contact history.

Mr.Patnaik also appealed to them to report for test forthwith and help the state to prevent further spread of the dreaded disease.

The surveillance teams of the Health and Family Welfare Department have already intensified the search operation to find out the the persons who had come in contact with the three Nizamuddin-returnees, tested positive.
