Odisha reports 48 fresh covid cases

Bhubaneswar/UNI: Odisha reported fresh 48 covid positive cases today from nine districts, taking the total count in the state to 672.

Health and Family Welfare department sources here said 12 each positive cases were reported from Ganjam and Balasore district followed by 10 in Puri district.

Bhadrak district reported six positive, all West Bengal returnees. The districts of Cuttack, Sundargarh and Deogarh reported one each while Nayagarh and Jajpur district reported one each.

Sources said all the 12 positive from Ganjam and 10 from Puri were Surat returnees. Similarly, all the six positive cases found in Bhadrak district were West Bengal returnees.

As per official data shared by the I&PR Department, all the persons who had been tested positive with coronavirus are mostly returnees from other states of the country and have been quarantined.

12 positives in Ganjam ,3 cases in Nayagarh ,2 cases in Jajpur and 10 cases in Puri were Surat returnees and all put in the quarantine centres.

Similarly ,1 each in Sundargarh,Deogarh and Cuttack were in quarantine centre and Ahmedabad returnees.All the 6 cases in Bhadrak were in quarantine centres and West Bengal returnees.

The 12 positive cases reported in Balasore included 7 WB returnees, 2 Surat returnees and 1 Maharashtra returnee, all in quarantine centres.

This apart one Delhi returnee and one contact case in home quarantine also tested covid positive.

During the last 24 hours another 8 patients have recovered from COVID-19 and are being discharged. They included four from Jajpur, 2 from Bhadrak and 1 each from Balasore and Keonjhar.

With the fresh 8 recoveries, so far 166 covid patients have been recovered in the state and 513 active cases are under treatment at various covid hospitals.
