Novo Nordisk, CMRI Hospital celebrates Nurse Day

The programme included a counseling and training session by a team of experts/consultants on diabetes education, insulin usage and device demonstration among others.

The event which is a part of a pan-India programme reached out to over 60 corporate hospitals across India and educated over 3000 nurses on various aspects of helping people with diabetes understand the condition better and also evaluate and analyse their psychosocial needs.

During the event Dr. Sudip Mukherjee, CMRI Hospital said, “It is very important to continuously educate our nurses who are the first point of contact to any patient. Such education programs help them to look beyond their horizon and enhance their knowledge which eventually will help them to improve the quality of healthcare offered to patients in the hospital. On the occasion of International Nurse Day we have not only honoured them for their contribution but have also got them under one roof to educate them on diabetes care and management.”

Melvin D’Souza, Managing Director, Novo Nordisk India said, “The rule of halves says that of  those who are diagnosed with diabetes , only half have access to reasonable care and of those with access, only half are able to achieve their treatment targets. Managing diabetes in a vast country such as India is extremely complex.  Nurses and paramedical staff encounter people with diabetes on a daily basis and hence it is crucial for them to possess adept knowledge on how to treat complications arising out of uncontrolled and untreated diabetes. Therefore, they need to be empowered and constantly educated about the emerging treatments in diabetes care. We thank CMRI Hospital for extending their support for this initiative.”
