nCoV enters remote Lahaul Spiti district of HP

Shimla, Jun 29(UNI) Showing no sign of abating, Covid-19 has made its way to the remotest Lahaul Spiti district which was so far unaffected by the pandemic, a senior official said here on Monday.

Deputy Commissioner Lahaul Spiti, Mr KK Saroch, said that a worker belonging to Bihar tested positive for nCoV today. The 26-yr-old youth is a construction worker of Border Road Organisation, a construction wing of Indian Army.

He became first patient of Lahaul Spiti district which was sofar remained unaffected from the pandemic as district is landlocked. The worker, securing a valid permit, had returned to the state from Harayan on Jun 22 as he was engaged for bridge construction work at Patseo.

The DM said contacts of the victim are being traced. With the first case in Lahaul Spiti, now all the one dozen districts of this hill are infested by the deadly virus. With addition of one more case the total number of nCoV increased to 917 in the state, including 378 active cases.

The most populated district Kangra is worst affected having total umber of 262 cases, Hamirpur 238, Una 104, Solan 98, Chamba 51, Bilaspur 42 cases, , Shimla 40, Sirmaur 38 , Mandi 28, Kinnuar eight , Kullu five and Lahaul Spiti one.

The Covid infection trends indicated that virus is prevalent in those district which are exposed to other states and join borders and connectivity beside the migration of people recently. Like Kinnuar, Lahaul Spiti, Mandi and Shimla are less affected.
The trend of pandemic indicated that more than 90 per cent cases are pouring in districts where people have returned from other states as most of tested people have returned from the Maharashtra and Delhi etc.

The state has an impressive recovery rate as 518 people have cured which is 56 per cent of the affected people.
