New Delhi/IBNS: A massive fire broke out at the Bhalswa landfill site in north Delhi on Tuesday evening, the fourth such largescale fire in the national capital’s landfill site over the last month.

According to reports, on receiving the information around 5:47 pm, the fire department rushed 10 fire tenders to the spot.

Officials told media that 13 fire tenders were working at the site to douse the flames even late into the night.

Environment Minister Gopal Rai has asked the Delhi Pollution Control Committee (DPCC) to submit a report on the landfill fire within 24 hours.

The cause of the fire is yet to be known.

The frequency of landfill fires has increased with the rise in temperature.
