Maharashtra: Three booked for storing used masks with selling intent

Palghar/UNI: Three persons have been arrested for allegedly storing used N-95 masks after washing and repackaging them at a residential locality in Vasai suburb of this district, police stated here on Tuesday.

The trio accused have been identified as Nagraj Pilla (33), Rohit Kothari (30) and Mohammad Nigar Shaikh (28).

Talking to UNI, Local Crime Branch Inspector Sidhhava Jaibhaye informed that during the raid on Monday, around 25,000 used masks of different brands worth Rs 51.34 lakhs were seized from a house in Gadgapada area.

She added that the masks were repackaged after being washed and ironed.

Offenses against them have been registered under the IPC section 420 (cheating) and other provisions, The Essential Commodities Act and The Epidemic Diseases Act with the Virar Police Station.

Further probe into the case is underway.
