New Delhi, Dec 19 (IBNS): Adding one more feather to its crown, the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO)  on Wednesday launched nation's newest satellite GSAT-7A.

The satellite was launched with the aim of boosting the Indian defence forces’ communication capabilities, reports said.

It was launched from Andhra Pradesh’s Sriharikota.

The ISRO launched the 2,250 kg operational communication satellite from the second launch pad of Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 4.10pm.

ISRO tweeted: "#ISROMissions #GSLVF11 successfully launches #GSAT7A into Geosynchronous Transfer Orbit."

The Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle-F11 (GSLV-F11) carried the satellite.

More details are awaited.
