India records 9,121 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours

New Delhi: India recorded 9,121 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, marking a slight slide in the daily count, as per data released by the Ministry of Health.

The total number of cases now stands at 1,09,25,710.
 
The highly infectious virus has claimed 81 new lives in the past 24 hours.

The death toll due to the disease now stands at 155813.

There are 136872 active cases in the country at present.

So far, 10633025 people have been discharged from hospital after treatment.

The fatality rate stood at 1.43 per cent. Kerala has reported the maximum number of single day recoveries with 5,073 newly recovered cases while 3105 recovered in Maharashtra in the past 24 hours.

According to Health Ministry, 18 States/UTs have not reported any death in the last 24 hours.

As per the Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR), 6,15,664 samples were tested on Monday.

The number of people who got vaccinated under the nation's vaccination drive commenced on January 16 has reached 87,20,822, with 4,35,527 more people getting vaccinated in the last 24 hours.

Globally, the disease has infected 109,134,308, as per the John Hopkins University coronavirus tracker.
