Health secretary claims positive cases coming down in Andhra Pradesh

Vijayawada/UNI: Andhra Pradesh Medical and Health Principal Secretary Anil Kumar Singhal has claimed that the positive cases of Coronavirus are coming down.

Addressing a press conference here on Sunday, he said that 20,937 positive cases were reported on May 21, 19,981 positive cases were reported on May 22 and 18,767 positive cases were reported on May 23.

The registering of positive cases has started plummeting in the state, he claimed.

He said that the calls for the 104 helplines have also dwindled.

He said that all steps were taken to keep sufficient stock of Oxygen in view of the cyclonic storm in the Bay of Bengal.

Singhal said that AP had so far received 76,49,960 doses of Covid vaccine from the Central government while the state had purchased 11,64,120 doses so far. The government would purchase 14,86,220 lakh doses by June 15.

He informed that so far 78,78,604 doses of vaccine had been administered. So far over 32,01,022 people had received the first dose of the vaccine while 23,38,791 people had received the second dose.

The state is to receive over 14.15 doses during the month of May from the Centre, of which it had so far received 11,65,365 doses, he said, adding that 1,18,129 people had to be administered the second dose of Covaxin.
