Govt forecast for flood in Ken, Betwa Basins

New Delhi, Aug 20 (IBNS): In view of heavy to very heavy rainfall in the States of UP and MP in association with a deep depression centered near Satna on Saturday morning and heavy to very heavy rainfall forecast in East MP and other catchment areas of rivers Ken and Betwa and its tributaries.

"River Ken is likely to flow in Moderate to High Flood Situation in Damoh and Panna districts of Madhya Pradesh and Mahoba and Banda districts of Uttar Pradesh, read a government statement.

River Betwa is likely to flow in Moderate to High Flood Situation in Vidisha, Sagar, Ashoknagar and Tikamgarh districts of Madhya Pradesh and Lalitpur, Jhansi, and Jalaun districts of UP.

"Floods in downstream districts may be aggravated by releases from Rajghat and Matatila dams for which suitable advance warnings shall be given by project authorities before release to all concerned," it said.
