Earthquake measuring 6.1 on Richter Scale hits Nepal, tremors felt in Bihar

An earthquake measuring 6.1 on the Richter Scale hit Nepal on Friday, with tremors felt in parts of India's Bihar state, media reports said.

The quake reportedly hit Nepal's Sindhupalchok District at around 2.51 am.

According to the National Earthquake Monitoring and Research Centre, the epicentre was at Bhairavkunda in Sindhupalchok district, reported The Kathmandu Post.

No casualties or damage to properties have been reported so far.

A large number of panicked people rushed out of their houses when the tremors were experienced earlier in the morning.

Nepali authorities have begun assessing the impact of the earthquake in the affected areas.

Tremors Felt In Patna

Meanwhile, tremors were also felt in Indian cities like Patna and Muzaffarpur.

An X user shared a video on his platform where a fan could be seen shaking due to the impact of the earthquake.

India's National Center for Seismology said the intensity of the quake was 5.5 on the Richter Scale.

Tibet Earthquake

At least 125 people died after multiple earthquakes, with the strongest measuring 7.1 on the Richter Scale, hit Tibet Xizang region in January.
