Doctor commits suicide on first day of duty

Nagpur, July 5 (UNI): A 26-year-old doctor allegedly committed suicide by hanging himself in his hostel room of Indira Gandhi Medical College and Hospital (IGMCH) here, police said here on Friday.

According to police, the deceased was identified as Manyukumar Vaidya, native of Karnataka, who joined the IGMCH on May 2 this year.

The incident came to light on Friday morning, when the deceased did not turn up for his duty in OPD department. Some of his colleagues went to check in his room, where they found him hanging from the ceiling fan.

The Tehsil Police Station have registered a case of accidental death and further investigation was underway, police added.
