Delhi witnesses fresh 6,430 COVID-19 cases
New Delhi/UNI: Delhi recorded 6,430 cases of COVID-19 and 337 deaths from the virus in the past 24 hours, a health bulletin said here on Saturday.
The positivity rate in the national capital, one of the most severely affected by the virulent second wave of COVID-19, is 11.32 per cent while the fatality rate is 1.53 per cent.
With the fresh infections, the actives cases have reached 66,295, but a total of 11,592 patients also recovered in the past day.
The fresh cases came from a total of 56,811 tests, comprising 46,744 RTPCR/CBNAAT/True Nat and 10,037 rapid antigen tests, conducted in the last 24 hours.
The total cases in Delhi have reached 13,87,411 while the death toll is now 21,244.
As per the official data, 7,223 COVID beds are available in hospitals, 5,586 in dedicated COVID Care Centre, and 547 in Dedicated COVID Health Care.
The health bulletin said 5,343 beneficiaries were vaccinated in the past day, which included 4,053 first dose recipients and 1,289 second dose takers. The decline in vaccination numbers was due to the closure of the government centre on Friday owing to Eid-ul-Fitar.
From May 1, all adults are eligible for a vaccination against COVID-19 but the population is large while vaccine doses are less.
Delhi is under a lockdown since April 19 with only emergency and essential services open.
