Delhi to observe weekend curfew amid rising COVID-19 cases
New Delhi: Delhi Deputy Chief Minister Manish Sisodia on Tuesday announced weekend curfew will be observed in the national capital by keeping in mind the growing cases of COVID-19 in recent times.
"Today, certain decisions were made. Weekend curfews will be followed in Delhi. Please don't go outside on these two days except in an emergency situation," Sisodia said.
"Full curfew will be observed on Saturday and Sunday," he said.
The Deputy CM of the national capital also announced most offices would have to make half their employees work from home.
"Buses and metro will function at 100 percent but not without a mask. There is nothing to worry about. People will have to wear masks mandatorily," he said.
In the morning, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal said he went into self-isolation after testing positive for COVID-19.

A total of 1,892 cases of COVID-19 variant 'Omicron' were reported in the country with 382 emerging from Delhi.
India, a nation which has witnessed a massive rise in cases in recent times, registered 37,379 new COVID-19 cases in the past 24 hours, as per data released by the Ministry of Health on Tuesday.
India's active caseload currently stands at 1,71,830.
Country's active cases account for less than 1 percent of total cases.
It now stands at 0.49 percent.
