Geneva/IBNS: World Health Organization chief Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus expressed concern over the growing Covid-19 caseload in India.

"The situation in India is a devastating reminder of what the virus can do," he told a virtual briefing in Geneva, reported AFP.

"People are dying across the world because they are not being vaccinated against COVID-19, they are not being tested and not being treated,"he said pointing out the rapid surge in coronavirus cases.

India registered 3,46,786 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 2,624 casualties in the past 24 hours, the highest single-day spike in terms of cases and deaths since the outbreak of the pandemic, according to the data updated by the Union Health Ministry on Saturday.
