Covid-19 tally mounts to 48 in Himachal

Shimla/UNI: The tally of pandemic novel coronavirus mounted to 48 in Himachal Pradesh as a 41-year-old man, belonging to Bijheri subdivision of Hamirpur district, was tested positive on late Thursday, official said on Friday.

Additional Chief Secretary Health and Nodal Officer of Covid 19 Pandemic Mr R D Dhiman said that 42-yr-old victim had come from Delhi along with his family on April 29th in his own car and was in Home quarantine.

"He has tested positive late last night at IHBT Palampur", he said.

Patient belonged to Dadhor village of the Bijheri development block of the Hamirpur district.

The positive person has been brought to RCH (Radha soami charitable hospital), Bhota for treatment and isolation late at last night.

Earlier, two cases were detected in the district but were later on turned normal after isolation and treatment.

This area is likely to be declared as containment zone by the district administration later in the day.

Mr Dhiman said that patient was tested on Thursday after he developed some symptoms and complications earlier.

Victim runs a shop in Delhi as per family sources.

An official spokesman said that all the contacts of the family were being screened and message had also been sent to Delhi about the attest condition of the man.

He said that the contacts of the positive person were also being screened by the teams of the health department being a ticklish issue.

On Thursday a woman or mother of a COVID-19 patient who passed away due to renal failure two days ago also tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Thursday, taking the total number of cases in the state to 47.

The woman, who belongs to Sarkaghat in Mandi district, has been admitted to IGMC hospital at Shimla.

Her 21-year-old son had travelled to NCR for a kidney-related treatment and had returned home a few days ago. Seven new COVID-19 cases have been reported from the state in the last four days, while at least three people who had recently left the state tested positive in neighbouring Punjab and J&K.

Additional chief secretary (health) RD Dhiman said that there are currently seven active patients in the state and none of them is serious or critical.

Samples of 522 people were drawn on Thursday out of which two tested positive.

More than nine thousand people have been tested in the state so far, he added.
