COVID-19: Mob attacks policemen in Karnataka for not allowing Friday prayers in Mosque

Hubli/UNI:  Three policemen were injured at Aralikatti Oni in the city after a mob attacked them with stones for not allowing them to offer Friday Namaz in a local Mosque.

According to police, the cops were attached to Town Police Station. Three policemen suffered injuries on head, arm and chest and were immediately shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment.

Police said the cops tried to prevent the gathering from offering a mass prayer at a Mosque, located on Mantur Road, citing prohibitory orders clamped down to prevent the spread of Novel Coronavirus.

When the police prevented them from proceeding further, the mob, including hundreds of men and women, started abusing them and also attacked them with stones and slippers.
Police tried to convince them, but in vain.

Police arrested five persons in this connection and filed a case against them.

The Ballari report also said that the police arrested 21 people, who defied the prohibitory order and offered Friday mass prayer at a local Masjid, sources said.
