COVID-19 cases continue to spike in Maharashtra; tallies over 11k

Mumbai/UNI: In a massive COVID surge, Maharashtra on Sunday recorded 11,877 new COVID cases while nine patients died of the virus, stated an official health bulletin.

With these additions, the state’s cumulative case tally soared to 66,99,868 and the death toll climbed to 1,41,542.

Meanwhile, 2,069 people were cured and discharged during the day across the state, taking overall count of recoveries to 65,12,610.

The state's recovery and fatality rates stood at 97.21 per cent and 2.11 per cent respectively.

Presently, Maharashtra has 42,024 active cases, bulletin added.
