COVID-19: Active cases in West Bengal surpass 10,000 mark with highest-ever single-day spike of 1560 cases, recovery rate continues to fall

Kolkata/IBNS: With highest single-day spike of 1560 infections, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has reached 30013, including 10500 active cases, 932 fatalities and 18581 recoveries, state health department said on Sunday.

According to a bulletin issued by West Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the last 24 hours, 26 more deaths were recorded in the state while 622 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities after treatment.

The bulletin stated that of the 1560 fresh infections, 1099 cases (70.45 per cent) were reported only from four neighbouring districts-- Kolkata (454), North 24 Parganas (357), Howrah (127) and South 24 Parganas (161).

Covid-19 recovery rate in Bengal has further dropped to 61.90 per cent from 63.11 per cent. 

West Bengal has tested 6,17,079 samples till date with 11709 tests conducted in 52 testing facilities across the state in the past 24 hours, reports said.

Currently, 4752 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 30839 people are under home surveillance in the state.
