COVID-19: 1178 new positive cases reported in AP

The spike in Coronavirus positive cases as well as deaths continued in Andhra Pradesh as 1178 fresh cases were reported while 13 more patients died on Tuesday.

According to a health bulletin, 16,238 samples of persons were tested and of which 1178 were diagnosed with COVID-19. Of which, 1,155 people belongs to AP, 22 belonging to other States and one returnee.

The deaths of Coronavirus patients are also rising alarmingly in the state as 13 more patients died yesterday taking the death toll to 252.

The more number of deaths took place in Kurnool district (85), Krishna district (70) and Guntur district (20).

The total number of Coronavirus positive cases has risen to 21,197, the bulletin said.

Kurnool district continued to lead the state with 2,671 positive cases followed by Guntur district (2262 cases), Anantapur district (2481 cases), Krishna district (1898 cases) East Godavari district (1890 cases), West Godavari district (1319 cases), Chittoor district (1510 cases) and Kadapa district (1369).

So far 9745 patients have been discharged from various hospitals after they have recovered while 11,200 are still undergoing treatment. So far 10,50,000 swab samples of persons have been tested in the state.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Y S Jagan Mohan Reddy directed the officials to provide quality medicare and all required facilities at COVID Care Centres.

At a review meeting on COVID-19, the Chief Minister said that Asha workers, ANMs and Village Volunteers should survey the containment zones and enquire about the details of the people and provide necessary help.

They should visit the houses of those undergoing home quarantine, seek details and see that the supply line is intact in terms of food and medicine.

Mr Reddy asked the officials concerned not to compromise in providing facilities and medicines to the patients.
