Congress MLA recovers from Covid, overall tally reached 4876 in Manipur

Imphal, Aug 19 (UNI)  Congress MLA Md. Fazur Rahim, who was found Covid-19 positive after his return from Delhi on August 10, was declared Covid negative on Wednesday.

The 50-year-old politician was under home isolation at his residential quarters in Babupura, Imphal.

Other asymptomatic or mildly symptomatic patients willing to undergo home isolation are encouraged to do so after consultation with the respective Chief Medical Officers said Dr. Khoirom Sasheekumar Mangang,  Spokesperson of Manipur Health Department.

The total number of Covid positive cases in Manipur reached 4876 on Wednesday, including 18 deaths due to the illness. Of them, 3599 people belong to the general population while Central Security Personnel account for 1277 cases.

So far 2885 patients, 2545 from the general population and 340 Central Security Personnel, have been discharged.

The number of active cases in Manipur is 1973 with common people accounting for 1037 cases and Central Security Personnel 937 cases.

The recovery rate is 59.16%.

In the past twenty-four hours, 55 people, 31 male and 24 female, from the general population and 56 personnel from the Central Armed Police Force (CAPF) were confirmed COVID-19 positive.

The positive cases were from VRDL, JNIMS - 56; Imphal West RAT - 13; Bishnupur RAT - 1; Churachandpur RAT - 10; Ukhrul RAT - 10; Babina Diagnostics - 21. They are from Imphal West - 26; Imphal East - 18; Bishnupur - 1; Thoubal — 1; Kakching - 2; Churachandpur — 5; Chandel — 1; Pherzawl - 1. 7 persons (Pherzawl -1, Chandel - 1, Churachandpur – 5.

Out of the 55 new cases are from the general population, 44 had no significant travel history.

They were being shifted to the Covid Care facilities.

All necessary medical precautionary measures like containment and contact tracing were in place. Today, there  was no report of death.

In the past twenty-four hours, 96 patients were discharged from different hospitals across the state after getting cured.

They were from CAPF (66), JNIMS (15), CCC Lamboikhongngangkhong  (15) after they were found COVID-19 free on the RT PCR test.
