Bengal's COVID-19 tally reaches 86,754 with biggest-ever one-day jump of 2,954 cases, death count breaches 1900 mark

Kolkata/IBNS: With highest-ever single-day spike of 2,954 cases, the total number of confirmed Covid-19 cases in West Bengal has mounted to 86,754, including 23,829 active cases, 1,902 deaths and 61,023 discharges, reports said on Thursday.

According to a bulletin issued by Bengal Health and Family Welfare (WBHFW) department, in the last 24 hours, 56 more fatalities were reported while 2,066 Covid-19 patients were discharged from different health facilities across the state, taking the recovery rate to 70.34 per cent from 70.36 per cent. 

Officials said that West Bengal had tested 10,28,251 samples till date with a record number of 25,224 tests conducted in 59 testing facilities in the state in the past 24 hours.

Presently, 2,918 persons are kept in government quarantine centres and 29340 people are under home surveillance in the state while 1,702 persons are in 106 government-run safe homes.
