Guwahati/IBNS: Amid Covid-19 lockdown, poachers killed a rhino in Assam’s Kaziranga National Park (KNP) and chopped off its horn.

According to reports, the forest guards of the national park detected one carcass of rhino near Duamari Beel under Eastern Range Agoratoli of the park.

When the forest guards had detected the carcass of the rhino, then they found that, the horn was missing.

The forest guards also recovered eight rounds of empty cartridge of AK-47 rifle near the carcass.

A park official said the rhino might be killed three-four days before and the poachers fled with its horn.

It is the first poaching incident in Kaziranga National Park after 13 months.
