Andhra Pradesh: Mild tremors hit several parts of Visakhapatnam

Visakhapatnam/UNI: People in several parts of the city came out of their homes in panic on Sunday morning as they experienced "loud sound' due to an earthquake of mild intensity that occured in the city.

On Micro blogging platform Twitter, the Greater Visakhapatnam Municipal Corporation (GVMC) said tremor was felt across the city around 7.14 a.m.

“It is requested to take precautionary steps to avoid possible earthquake impost”, the Corporation tweeted.

Many areas in the city including Akkayyapalem, Madhuranagar, Thatichetlapalem, Ariova, Pedawaltair, Seethammadhara and other parts of the city experienced earthquake tremors for three to four seconds around 7.15 AM, according to reports.

A resident from Akkayyapalem, Advocate Manjula said that they heard a loud sound like a moving train and thought it was earthquake tremors and came from their house.

She said they experienced 'loud sound" for three to four seconds at 7.14 am.
