Active Covid-19 cases below 10 lakh-mark for 10th successive day

New Delhi/UNI: For the 10th successive day, India on Thursday reported less than 1 million active Covid-19 cases as it sustained the trend of maintaining the active cases below the 10 lakh mark.

A total number of 86,821 new confirmed cases have been reported while 1,181 Covid-19 deaths have been registered in the country in the past 24 hours, an official report here said.

With a very high number of Coronavirus patients recovering every day, 85,376 recoveries have been registered in the past 24 hours in the country taking the total recoveries to 52,73,201 and pegging the national recovery rate at 83.53 per cent.

The last 10 lakh recoveries were added in just 12 days, of which 77 per cent was recorded in 10 states/UTs.

Maharashtra has contributed the highest number to the total recovered cases followed by Andhra Pradesh and Tamil Nadu.

There were a total of 9,40,705 active cases in India. The country reported 9.4 lakh active cases earlier on September 11.

76 per cent of the active cases were in 10 states/UTs. So far, the active cases contributed only 14.90% to the positive caseload of the country.

82 per cent of the 1,181 deaths registered in the past 24 hours were from 10 states and UTs.

Maharashtra accounted for 40 per cent of the fatalities with 481 deaths followed by Karnataka with 87 deaths.
