370 new Covid cases in Delhi, highest daily infections in 2 months

New Delhi/UNI: As many as 370 fresh Covid-19 cases were reported in the last 24 hours on Wednesday--the highest jump in daily cases after almost two months.

According to the Health bulletin, the positivity rate rose to 0.52 per cent from Tuesday's 0.48 per cent.

The national capital houses 1900 active cases on Wednesday from its tally of 1,812 on Tuesday.

Health department said the sudden spike of cases can be attributed to the complacency in people and flouting of Covid-19 norms.

The authorities also appealed the people to follow the Covid guidelines to contain the ongoing spread of virus.

The contagion claimed three lives in the past day, taking the total fatalities to 10,931.

As many as 279 people recovered from the coronavirus in the meantime, adding that over 6.29 lakh people have cured from the infection till date.

The number of people under home isolation rose to 982, the bulletin said.

There are 6,42,030 cases reported in Delhi so far, while 6,29,199 people recovered from the pandemic.

As per the data, Delhi conducted 71,153 tests on Sunday out of which more than 45,000 tests were RT-PCR, CBNAAT and TrueNat, tests which are considered to be more accurate.

The number of tests rose by 4,409 compared to the 66,744 tests carried out on Tuesday. The positivity rate stood at 0.52 per cent recording a marginal rise while the case fatality ratio stood at 1.70 per cent.
