Vodafone launches initiative for pilgrims

Pune, 20 June (IBNS): Telecom Service Provider Vodafone India on Friday announced a unique initiative to join lakhs of pilgrims undertaking the annual padayatra to Pandharpur.

Starting from Pune, Vodafone has deployed four ‘Vodafone Mobile Buses’ that will travel with the Warkaris all through their journey to Pandharpur to help them remain connected.

The ‘Vodafone Mobile Buses’ are equipped with free calling facility, mobile phone charging points and recharge vouchers at market price.

In addition to these services, the buses will have M-Pesa money transfer service which will enable Warkaris to transfer money and recharge their prepaid numbers irrespective of the service provider.

The objective of the initiative is to empower Warkaris stay in touch with their loved ones throughout the duration of their arduous trek. Warkaris will be able to make use of the facilities at all halting points of the Palkhi between Pune to Pandharpur.

Understanding the needs of devotees of Lord Vitthala and the enormous interest that the annual Pandharpur yatra invokes amongst followers across Maharashtra & Goa circle, Vodafone has also launched a special VAS offering.

As a part of this VAS offering, customers can listen to bhajans dedicated to Lord Vitthala, view a virtual aarati of the Lord at the revered Pandharpur temple, knowabout the history behind the Pandharpur yatra and the traditions of the Warkaris.

The service can be availed for Rs. 1per min. Vodafone pre-paid and post-paid customers in Maharashtra & Goa can call 567014 to know more about this service offering.
