Toyota Innova Crysta launched in Kolkata, MPV priced at 14.24 lakhs

Kolkata, May 15 (IBNS): Japanese car maker Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) on Friday launched the new Innova Crysta in Kolkata. The new Innova Crysta was first unveiled at the Auto Expo-The Motor Show 2016.

The base varient of  Innova Crysta is priced at Rs. 14,24,675 whereas the top  variant has been priced at Rs. 21,31,294 (ex-showroom,Kolkata).

The new Innova Crysta is sold in two grades with an automatic transmission (Zx,Gx) and four grades with manual transmission (Zx, Vx, Gx and G). The Innova Crysta comes with two diesel engine options. The 2,393cc diesel engine develops 148bhp of power and 243Nm of torque, while the 2,755cc mill churns out 172bhp and 360Nm of torque.

The 2.4-litre engine comes with a manual transmission and the 2.8-litre diesel engine comes with automatic transmission. According to TKM the car will offer mileage figures of 15.10kmpl for the 2.8L automatic variant and 14.29 Kmpl for the 2.4L manual transmission. 

The new MPV (Multi-Purpose Vehicle) is considerably larger in dimensions compared to the older version, the wheelbase has remained constant. The premium features of this new variant consist of chromed out front grille, LED DRls and the sweptback headlamps, a 7-inch infotainment system, climate control and one-touch folding seats.

The Innova Crysta has few added safety features like seven airbags, EBD, ABS, Hill Assist Control and Vehicle Stability Control. But all of this will come in the top of the line variants only.

TKM is also planning to bring in the petrol version of the car soon, as it saw a drop in its sales due to ban on diesel vehicles above 2000cc in Delhi NCR.

Sailesh Shetty, VP, Toyota Kirloskar Motor said, “Since 2005 when the Innova was first launched in India, the company has sold over 6 lakh Innovas in the country, while globally it has 1.6 million customer. Delhi and NCR accounts almost 13-14% of our market shares, so keeping in mind the recent ban we are planning to come up with a petrol variant in future.”

Innova Crysta is available in three new colours, garnet red, white pearl crystal shine, avant-garde bronze, along with silver, grey and super white.
