New Delhi, Oct 15 IBNS): Tata Sampann, the newly launched brand of Tata Chemicals under its Consumer Products Business, on Thurday announced the launch of Tata Sampann Spices at a press conference in Delhi.

Following a phase wise roll-out plan, Tata Sampann Spices would be available across the northern market by the end of the year, followed by the west, east and south market. The spices aim to leverage Tata Salt’s vast distribution network that caters to 120 million households across the nation.

Speaking at the press conference, R. Mukundan, Managing Director, Tata Chemicals, stated, “The food market in India is pegged at Rs. 6,00,000 crore, which shows a huge growth opportunity as consumers are increasingly making informed decisions regarding their food habits. Tata Salt has been trusted by millions of consumers and, with Tata Sampann spices, we further strengthen our commitment to provide everyday foods through high quality products. We are aiming to treble revenues to Rs. 5,000 crore in 5 years by entering newer product categories under the recently announced umbrella foods portfolio brand Tata Sampann.”

Commenting on the launch, Richa Arora, COO, Consumer Product Business- Tata Chemicals Limited stated, “Our market research showed an unmet consumer need for freshness and even better quality of spices than available in the market. With Tata Sampann Spices, we aim to provide consumers with authentic spices that add rich flavor and aroma for authentic Indian cooking. We are delighted to see long months of intensive research and many formulations come to fruition. Our focus is to ensure that products reach the kitchen exactly the way nature intended it to be.”

Speaking about his association with the brand, Chef Sanjeev Kapoor, said, “In India, home-made food remains very intrinsic to a family’s well-being and prosperity. In my experience, homemakers have always looked for spices that are fresh, wholesome and aromatic. Through Tata Sampann, it is this very aspect that we will bring to the table, with its unique formulations tailored to different regions, cuisines and taste preferences. It has been an exciting journey to work with a reputed brand, carry out months of careful research, testing (first being Chandigarh) and deriving the perfect formulation that will ensure a unique and quality product mix.”
